Nano Filtration (NF) is a pressure-driven membrane separation process that sits between Ultra Filtration (UF) and Reverse Osmosis (RO) in terms of selectivity. Operating at a pore size of approximately 0.001 micron, NF membranes exhibit high rejection of divalent and multivalent ions — such as calcium, magnesium, sulphates, and hardness — while allowing monovalent ions like sodium and chloride to pass through at a higher rate compared to RO.
Crearch Envirotech designs and supplies high-quality, compact NF systems with fully automatic SCADA-based operation for trouble-free performance. Our systems are available as standardised skid-mounted units or as tailored solutions for specialised industrial applications — engineered for consistent selectivity, low operating pressure, and minimal reject volumes.
NF membranes are uniquely suited for applications that require selective removal of specific ions or organic compounds without achieving the near-complete TDS rejection of RO. Key industrial uses include dye desalting and colour removal in textile effluents, colour concentration in food and beverage processing, chemical-to-chemical separation, and metal recovery from process streams.
Crearch Envirotech's NF systems are widely deployed for dairy milk concentration, COD removal, demineralisation, and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) pre-concentration stages. The ability to selectively pass or reject specific ionic species makes NF the preferred membrane technology where partial softening, partial desalination, or component recovery is the process objective.
NF is increasingly recognised as an energy-efficient alternative to conventional lime softening and full RO desalination for feed waters with moderate TDS and high hardness. By selectively rejecting divalent ions (calcium, magnesium, sulphates) at rates above 90% while operating at significantly lower pressures than RO, NF delivers softened and partially demineralised water at a fraction of the energy cost.
Crearch Envirotech deploys NF systems for drinking water softening, industrial cooling tower make-up, boiler feed pre-treatment, and desalination of brackish water where partial TDS reduction is sufficient. Combined with UF pre-treatment, our NF trains deliver consistent permeate quality, extended membrane life, and low chemical consumption — making them the smart choice between UF and full RO.
We select NF membranes based on feed-water chemistry and process objectives — ensuring the right ionic selectivity, rejection profile, and flux for each application.
Every NF skid features PLC / SCADA controls for automatic operation, CIP scheduling, flux monitoring, alarm management, and remote diagnostics.
NF operates at significantly lower pressures than RO, reducing energy consumption and operating costs — making it the most efficient choice where partial desalination or softening is the goal.
From dairy concentration to dye desalting and ZLD pre-concentration — we engineer customised NF solutions for complex, application-specific separation requirements.
